Tuesday 3rd June 2014 @ The Loft Venue @ The Locke Bar, Georges Quay, Limerick. Start 8.00pm sharp!

This month our guests are poet Eileen Sheehan and writer James Lawless, followed by the open-mic.

James Lawless’ poetry and prose have won many awards, including the Scintilla Welsh Open Poetry Competition, the WOW award, a Biscuit International Prize for short stories, the Cecil Day Lewis Award and a Hennessey award nomination for emerging fiction. His story Jolt was shortlisted
for the Willesden prize and appeared in New Short Stories 1, edited by Zadie Smith (London/ New York, Willesden Herald, 2007). He is the author of a well-received poetry collection Rus n Urbe and of the critically-acclaimed novels Peeling Oranges, For Love of Anna, The Avenue, Finding Penelope and Knowing Women, and a highly-regarded study of modern poetry Clearing the Tangled Wood: Poetry as a Way of Seeing the World, for which he received an arts bursary. Eileen Sheehan: lives in Killarney, Co Kerry. Her collections are Song of the Midnight Fox and Down the Sunlit Hall (Doghouse Books). Anthology publications include The Poetry of Sex (Ed Sophie Hannah/ Penguin); The Watchful Heart: A New Generation of Irish Poets (Ed Joan McBreen/Salmon Poetry), and TEXT: A Transition Year English Reader (Ed Niall MacMonagle/ Celtic Press). She has worked as Poet
in Residence with Limerick County Council Arts Office and is on the organizing committee for Éigse Michael Hartnett Literary and Arts Festival. Her third
collection, The Narrow Place of Souls, is forthcoming.

Everyone is invited to take part in the open-mic after the main event, poets, storytellers, musicians and writers . Even if you don’t write you are welcome to bring something along to read. The night begins at 8.00pm and admission is free. So join us on the night and make this event something special.
