the navyblue sky is waiting<\/p>\n

for its absence to be filled,<\/p>\n

houses stand like sentries,<\/p>\n

men in windows sharpen knives,<\/p>\n

dogs bark at the fading light,<\/p>\n

black specks of carbon birds<\/p>\n

circle my head<\/p>\n

because I am one<\/p>\n

who will not look up,<\/p>\n

the small boy counts down,<\/p>\n

radio and TV hop with expectation,<\/p>\n

the weather changes,<\/p>\n

the bookmaker gives good odds on snow,<\/p>\n

all is meant to change,<\/p>\n

the barometer moves up and down<\/p>\n

the human heart,<\/p>\n

cloying melodies bring tears<\/p>\n

to those who depart;<\/p>\n

it is a time of arrival<\/p>\n

where the moss grows green<\/p>\n

and the harvest that was gathered<\/p>\n

can now be shared between<\/p>\n

the angels carrying candles<\/p>\n
