Three other books I enjoyed since my blog on the 5th December were:
Handbook of the Irish Revival (Eds Declan Kiberd and PJ Mathews): An Anthology of Irish Cultural and Political Writings, 1891-1922
A beautifully produced book by the Abbey Theatre Press.
Let’s hope there will be a sequel bringing it up to the present
Models for Movers: Irish Women’s Emigration to America (Ide B O’Carroll)
Interesting true stories, overlapping some of the material in my novel American Doll, about how 9/11 opened a Pandora’s box on an Irish/American family, as yet unpublished.
Dublin: The Making of a Capital City (David Dickson) a 700 page panoramic sweep of my native city, authoritative and well researched, probably one of the best books on Dublin.
