Rus in Urbe launched

My poetry collection, Rus in Urbe got a terrific launch from Catherine Murphy TD on the 22nd May with Noel King of Doghouse acting as MC in the Springfield Hotel Leixlip, Catherine emphasized the importance of poetry in our lives as a way seeing alternatively especially in these recessionary times and she made a reference to my study, Clearing the Tangled Wood: Poetry as a Way of Seeing the World which tries to address such a subject and which has just come out in paperback. I read a selection of poems to represent the different locations in my life: the Liberties of Dublin, the suburbs of Walkinstown, County Kildare and west Cork. There was a great turn out and thanks to all who came especially those who travelled long distances from Kerry, Cork, Roscommon and Wicklow, It was good to see fellow poets there there too: Tom Conaty, Roisin McDermott, Neil Donnelly, Michael Farry, Mae Leonard, Declan Collinge and Anne Egan who together with Pat Boran wrote a wonderful commendation for the cover. The children’s writer Pauline Devine was also present. Rus in Urbe can be bought in The Winding Stair, Books Upstairs, Barker and Jones, The Maynooth Bookshop, Abtree in Lucan or, Galway: Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop, Kenny’s; Cork: Russell’s Bookshop, Bantry Bookshop;
Listowel:Seanchai Literary Centre & Woulfe’s Bookshop; Killarney: The Killarney Bookshop.
Tralee: O’Mahony’s, Polymath & The Kerry Bookshop; Kenmare: The Kenmare Bookshop; or, with free postage and packaging anywhere in the world, direct from Doghouse at www.doghousebooks.ie

Those who missed the launch and would like to hear some of the poems from Rus in Urbe read and perhaps discussed are welcome to come along to my reading in Lucan library next Tuesday, 29th May at 7pm.
